Noise Issues

by | Sep 1, 2015 | News

Dear Owners,

Following on from a few complaints from owners regarding noise in
the development we have some information regarding this matter from the Edinburgh City Council, please see below:

You should contact The Police in the first instance to report the
noise problem on the non-emergency number 101. All noise calls get
reported in this way to initiate a response. The Police attend noise
calls Monday-Wednesday (night) and The Councils’ Noise Team would attend these calls at all other times – The Police pass the calls onto ourselves.

If the problem that you have described persists and appears to be a
regular/ongoing problem, you can report the problem to The Councils’ Community Safety Team – as I had advised during our phone call. The City of Edinburgh Council has Community Safety Officers based throughout the city and they play a vital role in tackling anti-social behaviour or noise problems too. They have a range of options available to them, including: landlord interventions, Management Orders or (if required Anti-Social Behaviour Orders). Often an investigation is conducted and neighbours are spoken to about the problem and if/when the problems being investigated are corroborated further action is taken to resolve the problem. This is a very effective means to tackle the kind of problem that you are advising of.

Therefore, I would advise you to contact The Councils’ Noise
Team/Police using the non-emergency 101 number initially and should you require it, contact The Councils’ Community Safety Team for your area on 0131 200 2000 to discuss the matter with a Community Safety Officer.

I may add, however, the Noise Team will likely witness noise where it is a problem and report it back to a Case Officer should you wish to pursue your complaint.

I hope that you are successful in resolving your noise problem.

Regards
Richard Bowie
Senior Enforcement Officer.
